As I am wishing I was back on the sandy beaches of Costa Mujere’s typing this up, I am not. Not even close. But I literally didn’t post one image while I was gone. Zero. Zilch. I took more then I normally do ( kudos to me for once ) and as I was reflecting on the trip I decided, let’s share some now, you know because it was such a great trip. Instagram only allows 10 images so now y’all have this, a blog page with the grainy images from whatever type of iPhone I have.
Typically we try to go on a trip every other year with a group some might call the Concrete Mafia…we mesh well, we laugh hard, and we LOVE getting away to tropical airs & sandy beaches. Since the daily activity in our lives includes non-stop running, barely any get togethers, and an overload of kids activities we opt for the all inclusive, let’s sit around until our bums hurt and do nothing type of getaway… someday we will brave a trip that requires a detailed itinerary but for now, our itinerary includes two things: A) Relaxing B) Making Memories while relaxing
Sadly enough our entire crew couldn’t make it this time around the sun, so it was just a petite few, none the less we followed our itinerary with no problems at all. We possibly tried a few of their ” famous beverages” .. as one of our fellow mafia members always says ” When in Rome”
For me, I thoroughly enjoyed the “adults only” time. I loved the vitamin d. I soaked up the surroundings. My FAVORITE part of the trip though … my morning walks on the beach.
Although I would typically have a beautiful brunette next to me, this time I wore my old school headphones that actually do connect to my phone, my dirty reeboks and hit the sand. I cranked up my music a little too loud, probably sang off key and just went.
TAKE. ME. BACK.
IT WAS AH-MAZING. The waves crashing on the beach. The greenery. It was so rejuvenating. This is always my time to reflect on life. Everything & anything that comes to my busy little head. I may possibly jam out a wee bit, but more so I was reminded that I NEED to take more time in my everyday life to do this. The cheesy phrase is true… it does make you a better person.
Anyway, not getting emotional here, also not writing a novel. Besides relaxing 10 hours out of each day, we did decide to do a day trip to Isla Mujeres via catamaran. Dabbled in snorkeling along the way, ta-da we survived it, drank a little salt water during the journey, (some more than others)…finally arriving to the island of Isla. We rented a golf cart to drive around the entire island. I confirmed Clint drives a golf cart just as terrible as his super duty. No judging. I also confirmed how unbelievably blessed we are. Some of the homes, some of the garbage. I just couldn’t believe this was somebody’s way of living. This was somebody’s everything. I guess you could say it makes you thank the Good Lord again, repeatedly for EVERYTHING you have.
All in all, being reminded of how blessed we all are. Being reminded that being kind is a NUMBER ONE RULE in my book ( hence why we have a favorite waitress, bartender, & pool boy ) Being reminded that it’s ok to take time to just breathe and take care of myself. Being reminded that life is too short, so be brave, go all in, and DO NOT EVER LET ANYTHING STOP YOU. The TRIP WAS PERFECT. So thank you dear friends for being you. ( To the rest of the crew… we will see you in a year on the sandy beaches) Thank you Costa Mujere’s for rejuvenating my mind, body, & soul. Thank you dear pilots for getting me home to my babes. Also I do not own a selfie stick and DO NOT CARE.
